Reading Comprehension Practice

Hello everyone. I am struggling in reading comprehension specially understanding the complex sentences. I have followed the reading skill classes and I think I need practice to be efficient.
My question is should I practice the skills from the big book? I have followed the articles from aldaily.com but implementing sentence function in those articles are difficult as they are mostly large articles. Lastly what is the efficient way to follow aldaily.com for improving my reading skills. Thank you all.

Hi! Yes, Big Book is really good for reading comprehension practice. There are 27 tests in total… so you can practice the skills and strategies on some of them and then go for timed practice for the others.

If you got lots of time on your hand like 8-9 months or more than reading from magazine ,books or articles helps. But if you are under time-constraint like 1-2 months then sticking to official material helps as if you go over official passages over and over again you will start to see some patterns or generalization which will help you more in ur test than reading from peripheral sources. Also, if you like to read from magazines then you have use them when you feel bored doing official passages (advice: Select passages on topic which ur interested in than random picking random passages)

I have around 3 months for the test. So, I should develop the skills first using the official materials and then time based practice? I feel it is difficult to practice the skills from the news articles.
Thank you for your suggestion.

Thanks a lot. I am actually following the same. Although I am uncertain whether I will be able to develop the skills before the material finishes, I am hoping for the best. One question, should I use paper based GRE questions for practice or use them as diagnostic tests?

Hi! Since you have 3 months, I suggest you follow GregMat’s two-month study plan.
It’s rather intensive… so you can stretch it out as per your time frame.

You can use the paper-based tests for practice, but only after you take the diagnostic test (online Powerprep test 1). This is because there’s a lot of overlap with the free online tests. You can also watch “Get yourself familiar with the GRE” video here:

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot. I have started following the 2 months plan and I will use the paper based tests for practice after the diagnostic test. Thanks again for your suggestion.
