Source: PowerPrep I section 2
For the vintage picture three blanker, I was able to guess the second and third blank but got the first one incorrect.
For the second blank, it clearly says that vintage ones are highly expensive than non vintage and the word ‘that’ means support and the second blank would be ‘higher’ or ‘increased’. For the third blank, it says ‘took advantage’ and the advantage is higher price of vintage and so the third blank i guessed was disparity or discrepancy.
So, I thought vintage and non vintage are different methods of printing photos. So, I chose style. Also, I don’t think the word peddle has negative connotation to suggest the ‘forgery’ as an answer.
Where did i went wrong for the first blank?
For this one also, i got the first blank wrong. For the second blank, I knew reverberant spaces makes speech less clear. So, i guess the word ‘clear’. For the third blank, it says using both music and speech in the same space is rare and not perfect , which would suggest they are contrasting and contrasting things have to compromise when existing together. SO, third blank = compromise. And i guessed the word ‘used’ for the first blank. But the answer is ‘appreciated’. I just wanted to know why employed is not the correct answer.
Thank you.
Okay so firstly like you said vintage and nonvintage are two different methods of printing photos. “Style” would refer to the differences in the product which is the final photos not in the method of printing the photos.
The word peddle itself does not have a negative connotation, it just means to sell something but you have to pay attention to the fact that the word vintage is in quotations.
The use of the quotations is to suggest that the photos are only apparently vintage and in reality they’re not vintage which would be the evidence for forgery here.
I think the reason that appreciated would be better than employed is the fact that there’s a contrast between music and speech.
Speech is considered to be unintelligible which is a negative thing and to contrast music with that we would need something positive for music.
The fact that music is employed would just be considered neutral, but the fact that music can be appreciated would be considered positive, so I think that would be a better contrast to the speech which is considered negative
