I took a practice test yesterday. 153 V & 157 Q
My aim is to score a 330+ within two months.
- What can I do to improve my score?
- How can I derive insights from the diagnostic report?
Is the diagnostic score too low to start? Also how do I craft a preparation strategy?
PowerPrep 1? and was it timed ?
For quant you’ve 35 min to solve 20 questions \rightarrow 1:45 min/question
For verbal you’ve 30 min to solve 20 questions\rightarrow 1:30 min/question
Now, from your diagnostic see at first calculate what is your average time per section then also compare your average time per topic with the time above to see where you’re wasting your time. In an ideal case, you should have enough time to go through all of your questions in a section once again meaning leaving a bare minimum of 5-7 mins and ideally 10 mins to re-check all your answers
Also, as GRE is an adaptable test and the first section of each of your sections (Quant and Verbal) is medium and depending on your performance on the first section you’ll either get a [Easy, Medium, Hard] as your second section. Now, for 330+ you want to get Hard
in both verbal and quant as your second section , meaning getting a 20/20 or 19/20 in quant in section 1 and 17+ correct in first section of verbal.
Also, as GRE also contains an experimental section
which can any of the sections except your essay one, it is hard to figure-out section 2 thus, you’ve to aim on doing well in all the sections…
