Dear Greg,
I am writing to seek your guidance and a potential study plan as I approach my GRE date on May 31st. I am currently considering rescheduling my exam, but I need professional direction on a timeline and strategy before doing so.
Lately, my mock scores have shown a concerning downward trend:
- GregMat Mock 1: 325 (Q163, V162)
- Untimed PP1 (manually timed): 328 (Q168, V160)
- Official Guide Mock 1 (old format): 325 (Q165, V160)
- Timed PP2: 313 (Q157, V156)
- PPP1: 316 (Q160, V156)
- PPP2: 312 (Q160, V152)
All scores are listed in chronological order.
My PP2, PPP1, and PPP2 were my most recent mocks, all taken within the last week. I suspect I may be experiencing severe burnout, but more importantly, I am struggling with consistent issues in both sections.
In Quant, I have completed the Overwhelmed plan and solved all problems in the Big Book, Verbal Reasoning book, and Official Guide. While my score is generally safe around 160, I am struggling to improve it. My primary hurdle is timing; I feel immense pressure during timed sections and miss or answer incorrectly questions that I solve correctly when the timer is off.
Verbal remains a major weak spot and feels inconsistent. I have completed the 1-month plan, watched all PrepSwift videos, solved the first 10 Big Book tests, and finished the Official Guides. Despite reviewing mistakes using Claude, my performance is volatile—I randomly struggle with RCs, TCs, or SEs. I am unable to diagnose a single weak point and feel I may need to redo the Verbal curriculum entirely.
Given this situation, I am considering rescheduling to approximately June 15th, but I am unsure if that provides enough time. Could you please provide direction on:
- How I can specifically improve my Verbal score and what new plan I should follow?
- Strategies to overcome the pressure of the timer in Quant?
- Whether June 15th is a realistic target, or if I should postpone further?
Also my exam is originally scheduled for May 31st, so I need to take a call today whether I wanna reschedule it.
