Hi everyone. I just took a GRE general test and achieved a score of 324. I think this score is quite good (?). However, since I pursue a Phd in economics (in Europe or Canada), and my score is 161V 163Q and 4WE, I have some doubts on the quant score. What do you think? My family is quite humble and retaking the test may be a cumbersome choice for us.. also being just a bit unlucky with the questions may be sufficient to score less than 167 (my aim) even in the next try. Should I retake the test? Is it mandatory to have an extremely high quant to start a good phd? Frankly speaking, I don’t even think this test is reliable at all to guess whether someone is a good researcher… But I’m not sure about what universities want.
Ty for your reply. My GPA in Bachelor is ok, but I have a very strong GPA in the Master (degree with honours and max grade in maths). However, besides my thesis, I had no opportunity to do research.
As you suggested, I’ll consider the retake and follow the procedure, even though I’m scared of being unlucky and waste time that I could use to write a good research statement.
