Roots == Real Roots in GRE?

Hi @gregmat ,

In the following question, Should not question be specific about “Real Roots” instead of “Roots” only? Because Quadratics will always have 2 roots, but may have 0 Real roots.
Or Should we completely ignore this language in GRE and always consider “Roots” as equivalent to “Real Roots”?

Thank you

This. See the ETS Math Conventions.

Hi @Leaderboard ,

I could not find anything specifically mentioning same in ETS Math Review, instead in Section 2.4 of ETS Math Review, I noticed that ETS was very specific saying “Real Solutions” and “No Real Solutions”.

Chat GPT also confirmed same.

May you please mention the exact source for taking Roots as equivalent to Real Roots. That would be really helpful.

Thank you
