Hi everyone, I’ve taken the GRE twice now and routinely do pretty well on the first quant section (16 or so correct) and then do quite poorly on the second quant section (around 10 right). Does anyone have any tips for preparing for the second section?
Brush up your foundation. Most people who score 160+ in quants score around 19 in first section of quants.
Can you share your diagnostic report ?
My second section timing is obviously not the best and missing every single data question is a large part of my score, data was my weakest area and with the test date approaching I basically mastered half of the data stuff (probability, std. deviation and the graphs), but I know I need to strengthen my foundation in the other data stuff.
I think a lot can be improved in data analysis but as for the rest of a quant section , you just need to expose yourself to lot of hard questions. I will suggest going through gmatclub, or greg’s own questions and filtering it by medium and above difficulty and time them. You can paste 10 question from Greg or gmatclub in a word file (just paste screenshot ) and try to solve then under 15 mins at the start then lower time acc. to your needs. Because when u lower the time and do hard questions it will also make you to forcefully skip questions (which is something u need to master if you want a hight quant score!)
