I’m following the one-month verbal plan and have completed the video lectures for the first three weeks. Alongside that, I’ve been solving the TC/SE questions from the Big Book as suggested in the practice sections.
Right now, I’m watching the RC videos. During that time, I skipped TC practice for about 4–5 days. When I resumed over the weekend, I noticed that I consistently struggle with the 6th and 7th questions in each set. My usual score is around 8–9 out of 14.
Also, I’ve completed nearly 13 Big Book TC tests so far. I’m a bit concerned that I might start memorizing patterns, questions or even answer choices and develop false confidence instead of actually strengthening my concepts.
I have about two months left before my GRE. Since I work full time, I can devote most of my prep time on weekends and a limited amount on weekdays.
Could someone please advise how I can structure my preparation better from here?
First, I would complete the rest of the one-month verbal plan. Make sure you are continuing to build your vocab to learn all 34 groups. This will help you a lot with TC/SE and even a bit with RC because you can understand the passage better if they use those words.
I would not concern yourself too much with memorizing patterns, questions, or answer choices. There are other Verbal resources, such as the Official Guides, GregMat Timed Verbal Sections, and Mixed Practice Sets that will have fresh questions. Make sure you learn as much as you can from each question so that you can get it right going forward.
Consider taking one of the GregMat practice tests or even the free timed PowerPrep test once you are done with the one-month plan and have practiced a bit. It can provide you a more accurate assessment of your current level.
