Hey everyone. I was solving the Verbal Question Bank available online and I’m confused regarding the answer choices provided for the question. According to the solution provided for the question mentioned in the snapshot, the correct answer pair is “apt & astute” whereas I had chosen “prodigious & astute”. However, I feel that “prodigious” is more suitable here than “apt” because we’re talking about Beth not being as intellectually sharp as the other students, implying that she doesn’t have “prodigious intellect”. Can someone please explain to me why my answer choices are incorrect?
Is the word “intellect” in the sentence though?
Saying she’s a “prodigious” pupil, just means she’s “impressively large”
Well, that’s a funny phrase. Thanks for the clarification, Ganesh, I guess I just got confused with the usage of prodigious.
