I suggest you review the ‘capricious-fanciful’ pair. I looked up their definitions in Merriam-Webster, and they do not share any context. I checked Google because Greg uses it as a source. Indeed, it offers fanciful as a synonym for capricious, even though none of the contexts it provides suggest that the words are fungible. I have also seen other questionable synonyms in the past.
