Square Root Assumptions

Just went over this- just wanted to clarify that when we take the square root of a variable, we assume the positive value.

Rule

  1. Square root of an even exponent- default to positive for the GRE (though we know a negative number^2 is positive)
  2. Cubed root of a negative odd exponent- negative
  3. Cubed root of a negative even exponent- positive (but again this then becomes a reciprocal)
  4. The negative square of a fraction-inverse the faction and perform the absolute value of the exponent.

1/ (2^(-1/2)) = 2^2

Just wanted to ensure this is correct
