Strategy

Hi everyone,

I started preparing for the GRE a few months back, mainly focusing on Quant. At that time, my diagnostic scores were 142 Quant and 146 Verbal.

Since then, I’ve:

  • Gone through multiple Quant resources (like GRE Tested Tutor on YouTube).

  • Completed Manhattan Quant Book 1.

  • Taken some timed full-course quizzes on Princeton Review, where I’m getting about 70% correct now.

I’ve just joined GregMat as a new user, mainly to build my Verbal from the basics and also to keep improving Quant.

Here’s where I’m stuck:

  • I’m aiming to take the GRE around December 1.

  • I’m not sure which GregMat plan to follow (1-month, 2-month, or longer).

  • Feeling a bit overwhelmed about how to structure everything since Verbal is still very new for me.

Question:
How should I begin with GregMat at this point? Which plan (1-month, 2-month, etc.) would realistically suit me given my background? Should I balance Quant + Verbal every day, or focus on Verbal first since I already have some Quant foundation?

Any guidance from those who’ve used GregMat or been in a similar situation would really help me out.

Thanks in advance!

I would either complete the "I’m Overwhelmed Plan” or the “1 month plan.” The “2 month plan” is fine, but it may be cutting a little too close to your test date.

I would definitely balance Quant+Verbal. Go on Quant Foundation Quizzes - GregMat and take the 7 diagnostic forms named Arithmetic, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, etc.. These can give you a good idea about your foundational strength in each area.

For the Verbal, Greg splits the lessons into a TC/SE strategy series and a RC strategy series. You will learn some valuable tools like the Math Strategy, Pairing, Previously Referenced, etc. Make sure to start building your vocabulary, since it is essential for solving TC/SE, which are 2/3 of the sections.

You might also find this useful (https://www.ets.org/pdfs/gre/gre-math-review.pdf).

Follow the plan and you will learn a lot and improve!

I wish you luck! We are always here as a resource.
