Study/test timing advice

So for starters, the overall situation is I’m military and just starting a deployment workup that is not conducive to effective studying until November. I have time as I don’t plant to apply to mba classes until next summer (for fall 2028 semester start). So I started my GRE prep last summer.

I started with the 5lb book for my first attempt back in October. It wasn’t targeted and I simply went through the book. Virtually no vocab. I got a 309 (153V and 156Q).

After this attempt I realized I needed more structure, went with GregMat “I’m overwhelmed” plan and took another attempt in February. I did maybe a week of actual timing and test problems and finished the vocab mountain. I got a 315 (160V and 155Q).

I decided to take another attempt a month later to shoot for 320+, my practice exams were everywhere 309, 312, with V and Q ranging differently as well. I do fine on ETS material getting 33/35 timed for the practice exams from the books and verbal was always good. Even on the GRE mini quizzes on GregMat I would get 16-18/20. Struggled on GregMat hard problems of course.

Anyways, this last attempt I got a 303 (148V and 154Q) and decided I needed a break. I won’t be attempting another round until fall because I’m just too busy with work. Just looking for guidance honestly on how to use my time and approach things in the future.

The first question is what scores you’re looking to get. Apparently being in the military is an advantage for MBA admissions?

Thanks for your service. My thoughts here: Study planning questions on the forums

At least a 320 or higher. My college GPA was okay, 3.3

Thank you Vince!

So would you recommend booking a tutoring session to solely go over planning?

Sure, can’t hurt and will probably help
