In the homework section of Session 2 for the (2024 Edition with ETS Material) TC and SE Strategy video, Greg incorrectly states that the word “make” is our clue that blank in the first clause is then supported by the latter portion of the final clause. He then goes on to say that this is in Support/Contrast word list and that his class should have studied the list prior to class.
You can listen to it here around the 39 minute mark: (2024 Edition with ETS Material) TC and SE Strategy - Session 2 - GregMat
I memorized the words prior to watching this video so I was surprised to hear this and went back to see if I missed it. Greg was wrong, neither the word “make” nor any of its synonyms (unless we’re really stretching “to be” words) can be found on either list.
See for yourself:
I’m a “new user” and apparently limited to two links. But you can check the other sheet if you’d like, it’s not there.
Another note, imo, Greg should’ve spent a bit more time explaining prepositions, participles, participial phrases, how to identify which prepositions go with/modify which clauses, etc., and then gone ahead with the support/contrast paradigm (unless he did elsewhere and I’ve somehow missed it).
