Support/Contrast Question from Greg's recorded Practice Session 1 (2 month course)

Hi all, I have a question with this problem below.

Here, for the second blank, I used that as the support conjunction and did not originate as the main idea to fill the blank with original.
Now using this blank filled sentence, I filled the first blank as unimaginative or inflexible.

Can someone help me understand what I did wrong in this?

(SPOILER: The correct answer for the first blank is independent (: is support and depends on other people is the main idea). The correct answer to the second blank is copy (in support of independent when : is the conjunction)

after the blank we’ve : process that didn’t not originate with them ; before the blank we’ve : ability of other people → Now, the context is of how one can get true disciple. So, if one wants to be an effective leader’s then his thought process should be able influence and affect other people (or ) other people must be able to understand what the leader is saying easily (now, I will look for blank with matches this idea)

Okay, your are right, that makes sense. I agree.
But also, aren’t leaders also supposed to inculcate creativity and innovation in their disciples? From that logic, the answer I had filled the second blank as original.

Does this seem like sound logic or am I using outside knowledge?
