I am confused about the Blank 3. I though the correct answer is Contrast “with neither” but it seems like that answer is wrong. Can anyone tell me what might be the correct word and why?

I think Idea 1 “He imagines the pair will collaborate” and Idea 2 “with neither in a ___ role” are in support to each other. However the blank is in contrast due to the word “neither”. And so, i think blank will be a contrast of word collaborate.
