TC - Big Book Test 13 - Section 1 - Ques 5

Hello!
I know Greg mentioned that this is an unfair question, but I found it helpful for testing the flexibility of choosing different strategies. I initially solved it similarly, via Math Strategy, supplied the same prediction as above ‘read too narrowly’ and boiled down to A, C, and D. I couldn’t pick one, so tried solving it via Block of 4 and was able to land on A.

precision (-) broader
read too narrowly (-) ignore/not read too narrowly

I wanted to confirm if this Block of 4 is valid or if I’m solving it incorrectly?

Thanks in advance.

Generally, block of 4 is used for contrast and the maintenance of relationships in a given sentence. There aren’t any contrasts here, but there are relationships to maintain, so you could use to keep track.

The setup for this question would look more like:

Author Concern Public Reaction
Carver wide (by implication) read too narrowly
Dickens broad read too narrowly

I think “diminished” is incorrect by usage, the sentence construction is such that choosing diminished implies that Dickens’ concerns were “diminished” in and of themselves, whereas “ignored” speaks to the public reaction aspect.
