Tc : pp1

Is the answer b?
I am looking at three parts of the sentence:

  1. Far from ā€¦ skeptical but enlightened intellectual
  2. historians ā€¦ portrayed him as ______________ thinker,
  3. eager to fill young with his political orthodoxy while censoring ideas he didnā€™t like

You can fill the blank using either the first or the third part.

If you use the first part:
Far from = contrast = -
So we choose the closest antonym of ā€œskeptical but enlightened intellectualā€, which would be (b) a doctrinaire

If you use the second part:
ā€œ,ā€ = support = -
So we choose the closest synonym of ā€˜eager to fill young with his political orthodoxy while censoring ideas he didnā€™t likeā€™, which would be someone who is dogmatic so again (b) a doctrinaire
