Is the answer b?
I am looking at three parts of the sentence:
- Far from ā¦ skeptical but enlightened intellectual
- historians ā¦ portrayed him as ______________ thinker,
- eager to fill young with his political orthodoxy while censoring ideas he didnāt like
You can fill the blank using either the first or the third part.
If you use the first part:
Far from = contrast = -
So we choose the closest antonym of āskeptical but enlightened intellectualā, which would be (b) a doctrinaire
If you use the second part:
ā,ā = support = -
So we choose the closest synonym of āeager to fill young with his political orthodoxy while censoring ideas he didnāt likeā, which would be someone who is dogmatic so again (b) a doctrinaire
