TC & SE practice session 3 (2024) doubt

Options for blank 1: Pellucid, Documentary, Simulated.
Options for blank 2: Auspicious, Contrived, Macabre

My doubt is as per logic “,” establishes support in both sentences, so if Blank 2 is contrived (made up/fake) shouldn’t the blank 1 be simulated?
As per Greg’s explanation he said, rarely can be taken as “no” so we will use documentary instead of simulated as documentary goes against (due to rarely == no)
Can someone please help me with this.

How about we re-order the sentence?

rarely seen quality of i)----------- [, (=) ] dominated by made up.

To support the idea that “made up” is dominating, what do we say is “rare”?

I think “dominated as it is … characters” is the phrase that talking about today’s climate not the quality of his work. So to better simplify it: In today’s climate, dominated as it is by … by characters, his works have a … quality.
