Thanks Gregmat! 164Q / 160V But Looking for Improvement

Hey Gregmat community,

Just took the GRE for the first time last weekend and scored a 324 (164Q / 160V)! I’m happy with my score but my network has been suggesting that I take the test one more time to score higher in order to be competitive for the programs I want to get into (M7 MBA).

My ideal score is a 168Q / 164V (332) and I’m wondering how can I get there? Looking for insights and recommendations for a study plan and/or resources that can help me in my current position.

It is worth mentioning that timing was a bit of an issue for the last 2 sections (the difficult quant and verbal sections) and I definitely feel like I had trouble with reading comprehension and sentence equivalence in the verbal.

Here is what I think my plan should be as well as open questions to the community here:

  1. At least 50 sets of RC passage questions from GRE Big Book
  2. Hard/Extreme Quant questions from 300+ Quant Problems set from Gregmat
  3. Complete all sentence equivalence practice/quizzes on Gregmat
  4. Gregmat Practice Exam #3 (Already took 1 and 2)
  5. Is it worth it to get any official GRE prep materials? If so, which one(s)?

Happy to provide more information if needed, thanks so much Gregmat community! Super grateful for the support and help from this group.

Thank you.

what would be useful would be your very best attempt at a detailed plan that people here could then comment on. Very hard to write all the words needed to create an effective study plan from scratch in a forum comment.

Hi Vince, great advice, thanks so much for commenting. I just made an edit to my post with my best attempt at a study plan to address what I think were the weaknesses in my first GRE attempt. Note: the diagnostic service report has not come out yet…will have more insight once it comes out

verbal is about quality, not quantity. You could do 500 RC passages and not get better at RC in the slightest if you don’t take the pains to understand why things are right and wrong.

I actually disagree with everything in your plan. Have you watched the “so you wanna 340” video series in recorded classes? If not, I would start there.
