The University of Maryland, University of Vermont

The University of Maryland, University of Vermont, and Emory University hav e each 4 soccer players. If a team of 9 is to be formed with an equal number of players from each university, how many number of ways can the selections be done?

9 total players from 3 universities means 3 players from each university
As each university has to choose 3 players from 4, the total number of ways selection can be done is
\frac{4!}{3! * 1!} * \frac{4!}{3! * 1!} * \frac{4!}{3! * 1!}
4 * 4 * 4 = 64

ans is given 12

That makes no sense to me, they might have added the 4s instead of multiplying
