Thoughts on online test-taking vs in-person?

On the ETS website when signing up for GRE tests they have an in-person and remote option. I’m just wondering if anyone has experiences with both and has an opinion on whether one is a better testing environment than the other

If your locality has low-covid cases and the test center is located at a manageable distance then take the "“give test at the center option”

Advantages:

  • Only have to carry the id proof and a small snack to the center and nothing else.
  • The center is responsible to reschedule the test if anything happens

If you choose the "take test at home option " then the biggest advantage is that you can schedule your test at any quarter of the day but there are few things that you have to lookout for before settling for this option:

  • Good Internet and a quiet room for 5 hours
  • You’ll need to buy a white board of or a single sheet of white paper in-between a transparent file for rough work .
  • Your eyes should not wander off the screen.
  • If proctor flags your test for any reason then you have to wait for an inquiry period of 2-4 weeks.
