Hi Team! need your help with assessing the most efficient way to utilize my week leading up to my exam wherein I can give about 6hours daily to GRE prep, 56hours.
My exam is on 13th October. Following is my Foundation average (basis google form quizzes + foundation quiz #1):
Arthemetic | 82.67%
Algebra | 81.82%
Coordinate Geo | 92.45%
Geometry | 77.97%
DA | 74.65%
How should I split my hours into Quant and Verbal wrt Foundation, Strat and timed practice?
For context, my last score was 153Q / 157V in July when I had not discovered Gregmat and was just following Maghoosh for Vocab also. And I often (basis mock practice) am rushing through quant and am able to complete it justtt in time (sometimes miss 1 question) before the clock runs out.
Really really appreciate this platform, you guys are freakin awesome with everything you do outside of the course with these QnA sessions and availability on reddit too!

What scores are you aiming for? And I guess your “last score” was a real test, right?
Yes, I was aiming for 325. Coz I already have a 316.
Where did the 316 come from?
So I gave attempt one back in 2022 and got a 316.
Then I somehow assumed my foundation is solid in 2024 and just solved questions for a month from Maghoosh and gave my 2nd attempt to get 310.
Then I discovered Gregmat, and now 13th October will be my third attempt (hopefully last too)
What was the sectional breakdown for that 316?
160Q / 156V - 316 (In 2022)
153Q / 157V - 310 (In July 2024)
What have you done since then?
Current progress and issues ^^
Have you taken any practice tests since then?
Yes, the above two. I took them today.
That isn’t good news. We need to look at things such as strategies - how good do you think you are on them?
Unsure…I could test my foundation with quizzes
What do you suggest for strategies?
I also analysed one of the sections and 6/8 problems I think are in the silly mistake category
Just writing out a few of what they were
- Did a+b when perimeter was asked instead of 2(a+b)
- Was asked about change of a person’s position in a quartile, I marked it incorrectly as 2nd lowest because I interpreted what I wrote incorrectly
- Looked at the wrong axis for a simple data interpretation question
- Didn’t check that my answer would make the denominator = 0
Did you run out of time? How good were your skills in skipping questions?
Okay so I took another untimed and my accuracy increased:
Section5 / ETS Official Book Paper 1 - 15/25 (timed - 40minutes)
Section6 / ETS Official Book Paper 2 - 17/25 (untimed - 44minutes)
Section5 / ETS Official Book Paper 1 - 21/25 (untimed - 53minutes) :((
What should I infer from this ?
Wait, why are you doing this untimed?
Greg suggested in one of the issues that to see if the issue is timed practice / foundation you should give a test without timed. So, that’s why I tried doing untimed.
This is still surprisingly mediocre then, because with untimed practice, you should be able to catch the silly mistakes you’re making. Are you checking your work?
Also: don’t just take tests repeatedly.
Hi, I got a 21/25 untimed. I appreciate the insights but this comment of yours was very discouraging especially at a time when I am trying to reach out to the community for some suggestions instead of scathing comments calling my attempt surprisingly mediocre.
Appreciate your time spent on this thread though.
I looked up the definition on Google and it said “not good enough” which is indeed the message I wanted to convey. However, I was later told that this is poor wording on my side - apologies there. A different staff member will respond to you for the rest of this thread.
