Tips needed - 30 day plan doesn't cover all vocab, reading long text is slow

Hello to fellow GRE exam takers,

Any tips would be appreciated. Context: I am coming closer to finish the 30 day plan and am 2 weeks out from my examination but have noticed the 30 day plan skips around 300 words of vocab (groups 20-30 on Quizlet). From this forum everyone seems to suggest covering 900 words - and for words you don’t know many on this forum have suggested using elimination strategies presented in Greg’s videos.

Quant is fine so far - I have summary notes for the day of the exam and try to answer all questions in less time than required. I usually get 90-95% correct since I have been more aggressive with my timings and re-doing anything I get wrong (I’m from STEM background but have listened to others and did not underestimate the difficulty for Quant).

Verbal questions:

  1. Is this a good strategy for me to ramp up on my vocab to get to the full 900 words
  2. My reading on long sections is fairly slow and am still working on speeding this up. “Simplify on steroids” seems to be working best for me on long texts as I’m finding writing full notes with the Greg strategies significantly slows me down for all other questions per section.

Any tips on the vocab or speeding I’m my time on the long texts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Solve all the So You Think You Know Words…its amazingly good…That’s how I prepared for vocab…If you can do them twice and thrice the better…vocab will be ingrained!

Thanks! I just went through one of them today and also the" one week before" video from Greg he recommended minimum 900 words and recap them daily so I’ll invest heavily into vocab over the next two weeks. Thankfully his Math Strategy is exactly what I’ve done so hopefully it will all go okay.

He stressed with the vocab Google Doc you have to know them off the top of your head without any hesitation. Just for anyone else:

Thank you!

Also try to maximize quant…Try to increase it to 100% accuracy! A quant score lower 165 hurts applications…Speeding I can’t say because I haven’t quite adapted but try to read the questions first and rephrase them. That seems to work for me!
