First , find the area of the whole figure !

we, have height = 2 and base = 2 , thus, area of whole triangle is : 2
Now, Area of whole triangle - Area of unshaded region = Area of shaded region
For , unshaded triangle , we have height = 1 and base =2 , thus area = 1

Area of shaded Region = 2 - 1 = 1
