Just curious- when I read the problem I had no idea that the information provided (ie: tables of 4 vs tables of 5) had to equate. I thought this information was irrelevant. I understand how to solve the problem now but I have a tendency of overlooking why the GRE is including bits of information.
Is it safe to assume it is including information on purpose and nothing is included to throw us off? Like no red- herrings?
There are questions where they do mention some information that we might think as “throwing us off” but since most problems have multiple ways of solving it, that information might be useful in that method. It is up to us to figure out what information can help us get the answer as quickly as possible in the exam. Since we are practicing currently, I think we should look at all possibilities and try to solve problems in multiple ways.
