Use of between and from in counting numbers

Do we need to include the numbers 1 and 5 in the following examples or not?
How many odd numbers are there between 1 and 5?
How many odd numbers are there from 1 to 5?

Hey!

When the question states between, it excludes the end points. Hence odd numbers would be 3.

However, when the word ‘from-to’ is used it generally includes the boundary. Hence odd numbers would be 1, 3, 5.
