I did not understand why first blank is not ‘valued in’ because it is everyday object and high art so it should be valued and not missing?
“High” artists CEDED everyday life art to illustrators…
The high artists (those who did serious/high art) couldn’t have ceded/given up the art they “valued”. They gave up the art that they did not value.
