Verbal Tc doubt


Can someone please explain the logic behind this question?

  1. novelist thinks criminals are dangerous
  2. novelist criticizes because it contrasts his idea … so, the 2nd line must say criminals are not dangerous (positive word)
  3. choice B is the only positive word

what exactly shows a contrast?

I think what shows contrast is the part “… that he [WT] criticized Dickens’…”
It is signaling that WT did not agree with D, essentially holding an opposite or contrasting opinion.

Does this make sense?
