Verbal tc -how you solved it?

The gaps in the existing account of the playwright’s life are not _________,since much of the documentary evidence on which historians have relied is _____________
a)Trifling d)credible
b)obvious e)extant
c)implicit f)incomplete

it’s a double possibility :

  • if gaps are \textcolor{red}{\textsf{not}} significant (not big) \rightarrow documentary evidence : reliable
  • if gaps are \textcolor{red}{\textsf{not}} in-significant(not small)\rightarrow documentary evidence : un-reliable

Because there is a gap, the most reliable word for Blank 2 is “incomplete.”
If majority of the evidence that historians relied on is “incomplete,” then implicit would be wrong, obvious would be wrong too. We are left with trifling, which means not important. So apparently, the gaps in the existing accounts are important, because the evidence is not complete

So you solved it backward, evidence is incomplete, so gaps are unnecessary.
