“But” is a contrast word
“Broader” is the idea no. 2
So blank should be “narrow”

My question is that there is not in the sentence in idea 1
Hence should not the blank be remains same broader
Than it makes “not broader means narrow” ??

The “not” and the “but” act together to create a contrast sometimes

It’s like saying “He’s not clever, but he’s stupid”

Still not understand what are you want to say please elaborate…
