we realized that jack was still young and impressionable ,but were nevertheless surprised at his…
Explanation me with details.
I can understand greg video. Please solve this question . Thanks

I vividly remember this problem. From Big book. I think it’s about knowing that there’s rich, richer, richie rich and Jeff Bezos. I could be wrong, do post the options and I’ll try my best to explain it

So this is the full question:

We realized that John was still young and impressionable, but were nevertheless surprised at his (i) _______.

Options:
naivete
obstinateness
decisiveness
ingeniousness
resolve

The phrase you need to zone in on is ‘but were nevertheless’ which means ‘but they still were’. SO even though they knew that he was young and impressionable they were still suprised by him which means he was more ‘young and impressionable’ than they expected. The word closest to this in meaning is naivete.

So, this is from the greg’s video where he explains the example that there are two negatives, one is directly opposite and other one is going to an extreme (for eg.- I am smart but I am not Einstein). This example has the same analogy.

They knew he was young but were surprised to realize how young he was ( naivete).

Hope that helps.
