note: I have only provided a paragraph from the entire available passage, but this is sufficient as the answer is in this passage (also Greg infers answer from this passage only)

Answer is B
My doubt is D because: If you read lines 51,52,53 it says the particulate matter aggregates and flows into the vents, isn’t D saying exactly this “aggregates ~ accumulates”.

Please help.

It aggregates at the surface. The passage says “some” of that matter is advected down. We don’t know if “large aggregates” of particles are carried down…only that some matter is carried down.

you must learn to read and think about each word of an answer choice instead of summarizing it.
