Here, why we didn’t choose allusion?
I was confused between allusion and cunning. Cunning sound too negative, so choose allusion.
Can anyone reason, why we can’t choose allusion.

I choose because I thought it is not simple but complex… written in a way difficult to interpret.

Here , the blank is opposite of the idea of these two words {Simplemindedness and artlessness}or in layman terms Naive/Simple . Now , we need to find the word that is opposite of Naive due to the phrase “in-fact” which implies go opposite of the idea before.

Thus, we need to fill blank with something that means very sly or skillful . {Hence, we end up with option E. Cunning }

Allusion means : referencing to something . For eg : He is as powerful as Hercules .{Here Hercules is an allusion } Thus, it is not an apt fit for our blank
