I started studying through Gregmat+ and was using the Quantitative lecture videos, but I did not understand anything through them, so I started using Prepswift and good Lord, what are some of these quiz questions? Greg does an excellent job in the lecture videos and explains most of the concepts well, but the quizzes on those videos are insane. Most quizzes are composed of questions that were covered in the lecture, but there have been several quizzes that have questions that were not covered in the lectures, and they feel like curve-balls. I honestly have to just skip questions not covered now because some of them are completely unrecognizable in relation to the material.
Sorry to hear that, the questions on PrepSwift are supposed to exclusively test that concept (and any studied before that).
Could you share examples of some questions where you feel the correct topics were not the ones being tested?
As Ganesh says, we did make significant effort to ensure that quizzes do not cover material outside the scope, though I recall you making a post on Reddit: Completely Lost and Behind on Prepswift for Quant. What do I do? : GRE
That being said:
- we do have to introduce concepts such as variables before they are formally covered - this is because it would be messy otherwise. It’s a minority though.
- some questions are more challenging than others - that’s OK. We don’t expect people to get every question right.
- students that struggle on PrepSwift (i.e, < 60% mean) should consider stepping down into “easier” material such as Khan Academy: Study Plans FAQ | Greg Mat+ Helpdesk. My experience is that such students could end up struggling through PrepSwift and ultimately not understanding anything, which I think would be quite problematic to you starting on a 142Q.
- take your time.
