What's wrong with my doubt here

here, i was confused with D due to the word “overestimate”, however it was the closest answer.
Can u explain why overestimate is correct ?

“Overestimate” means that the viewers tend to think that more number of fires & accidents take place than the actual number, which is what the argument says.

yeah actually that’s my doubt, which word or sentence in the passage supports that they "over"estimate

Viewers “estimate” how often a crime occurs based on how extensively it is discussed in the news.
Now, you’ve to make a logical jump
The passage also says that news shows report more on fires and motor accidents compared to more pedestrian news.
Hence, the viewers overestimate
