Why not -4/-8?

Why is the answer not -4/-8 and the solution explaination didn’t make sense

Can you show your work?

I dont have it because I didn’t understand the concept tested

y = ax + b is one way to “express” a line. For instance, y = 3x + 5 means a line with a slope of 3 and y-intercept of 5. Owing to this, it’s called the slope-intercept form because well you can read out the slope and y intercept just by observation.

As you may have noticed from above, a corresponds to the slope and b corresponds to your y-intercept.

Slope is heuristically just the rise over run and the y intercept is the corresponding y-value when you set x = 0.

For your case, \text{slope} = \frac{\Delta y}{\Delta x} = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1} where your two points are (x_1, y_1) and (x_2, y_2).

This primer should probably be sufficient for you to answer the above question.
